Autism ServicesOur Autism Services are focused on daily-living skills for adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Our specially-trained staff members design skill-building opportunities and meaningful life experiences in supportive environments. We are proud to have the first CARF-accredited Autism program in Minnesota.
Transitions that build independence
The MSS Autism program provides individualized structure, expectations, and a safe place to break away from a daily routine. We create personalized daily schedules that incorporate frequent transitions through activities that offer vocational skills, leisure, sensory breaks, recreation and daily-living skills. The core activities provide a sense of routine without rigidity; elective activities change daily, encouraging flexibility within the safety of our thoughtfully designed spaces. And of course, our sensory room is always available when someone needs a "break in the action."
Autism Services are offered at every MSS location, but our Apple Valley and Brooklyn Park facilities have a more directed focus. For more information, or to schedule a tour and interview, please contact Kevin McCaleb at firstname.lastname@example.org or 952-891-5345.
Success Story: Matt
Matt is a gregarious, friendly guy. It's obvious that he enjoys his days in the Autism program at MSS Apple Valley, where he works toward goals with his case manager. Matt loves to stay active by using the equipment in the exercise room.
One of Matt's touted talents at the center is his memory. He is able to keep track of exactly who is at the center and who is absent -- just by helping when the buses arrive. His good nature has earned him good friends, and the staff depend on him. It's a source of pride.
There are some serious and important goals Matt wants to meet as well. He is working hard at being honest and taking responsibility for his actions.
